Product Details

Death from above! Unleash an army of avians on to our unsuspecting foes! Our attacks are fast and quickm defying even the most impressive of board states. With powerful tools to refill our hand and the best colors to protect ourselves, we can soar to victory!

What makes Kastral Special
Kastral is on the most expensive side of our flying friends at 5 mana. However, coming out late is just when we want him. Playing our commander before a large attack means we can get up to three of his powerful triggers. Resurrecting or cheating out a bird, pumping our whole board, or drawing a card.

Remember, for each player hit, we get to pick one and you can repeat.

This makes Kastral an extremely potent finisher. One swing can take a decent board state into a game winning board state.

Gameplan
We want to stay pretty aggressive with Kastral. Ideally, we want three birds that can attack our opponents unblocked so we can get massive value the turn we play him. Flyers are surprisingly difficult to deal with, so making sure that we can get life totals low-ish early game means we can get into a position to take alpha strikes and eliminate players.

We also have lots of control tools in azorius. Saving your counterspells to defend your board can easily turn what appears to be an overcommited board state into a win. Getting a draw engine like Bident of Thassa or even just Kastral himself out is huge for making sure that we can continue to go wide without too much risk. If you do lose too many creatures, go back to Kastrals first ability and resurrect your team.

Powerful lords and pump spells are our cleanest way to eliminate players. A Rally of Wings can sometimes triple our damage, which can take opponents by surprise. Kastral of course serves this role excellently.
