What could possibly be worse than dealing with the most annoying creature in your deck? Dealing with it again. And again. And again. Meren lets us use our graveyard as an extension of our hand and bring out a variety of toolbox creatures to make it very hard for our opponents to stop us!  What makes Meren Special  Any time a creature (including tokens!) we control dies, we get an experience counter. Experience counters stay forever, so it's impossible to fully remove Meren's progress.  Our experience counters let us recur one creature each turn. If we have less than the mana value, we get to bring it to our hand. But if we have equal or more, we get to put it right on the battlefield! Thats pretty great!  Gameplan  What can we do with recurred creatures? We can ramp every turn with Farhaven Elf or Springbloom Druid. We can edict every turn with Plaguecrafter or Fleshbag Marauder. Perhaps most powerfully, we can fog once a turn cycle with Spore Frog. Nearly all of our creatures have some sort of utility, which means that we will have tons of options and flexibility every turn.  We have lots of other ways to accrue value. Our enchantments help us get more value off our creatures dying, we have lots of spells to sacrifice our creatures for value, and we have tons and tons of interaction. It's not unreasonable to describe this as a control deck, as we can stop our opponents while furthering our game plan so often.  We have no need to win explosively. Whittling down opponents with Zulaport Cutthroat or similar will do wonders for us. Instead of looking to kill, try to get our opponents to hit each other. While they flounder, we can use our removal as soon as they turn their sights to us creating a very lopsided board state in our favor.  If we have a chance to prioritize killing an opponent, try to leave the creature combat ones for last, simply because Spore Frog can single handedly win the game. You can sacrifice it in response to exile removal, so only graveyard hate can stop it. And in a one on one situation, if they have to win through combat, it is nearly unstoppable.
