What Makes Veyran Special
Veyran doubles our triggers when we cast instants and sorcery's. This might mean making two tokens off Talrand, Sky Summoner or dealing 12 damage to the table with Guttersnipe. Solid, solid value.
Veyran also gets +1+1 every time we cast or copy an instant or sorcery. Except that trigger is doubled too, so its +2+2. Throw a couple of spells in there in one turn and you have a massive threat. Chip damage is extremely relevant with Veyran as we constantly threaten commander kills.
Gameplan
Playing spellslinger is all about value. We want to accumulate resources until we can put enough value engines down to go wild. Cost reducers, token generators, or any other payoff for casting spells we can find are excellent ways to ensure that once we start to unleash our spells, we never stop.
We also have a strong copy theme with Veyran. This of course gives us triggers, but we can also copy massive spells. Using Rootha, Mercurial Artist's ability on an Apex of Power or Rousing Refrain can simply win the game immediately.
Notably, cards with storm such as Grapeshot trigger magecraft for every copy. This can be a massive amount of triggers (and damage) to get you over the edge.
